Make ContactPrint Friendly (new window)

Your first course of action should always be to contact the other person/s involved in the dispute. In some types of disputes, a delay might affect your rights, so act quickly.

There is no right or wrong method when it comes to making contact. You might use one or more of the following:

Face-to- Face
Phone
Letter
Email
Through Another Person

No matter how you make contact, it always pays to:
  • Be practical and take a reasonable approach - even if you are angry or annoyed - it's more likely to get results
  • Treat the situation as a mutual problem rather than a mistake they need to fix
  • Focus on what has gone wrong, rather than blaming the other person
