Justice Review - Issue 1, 2011

The first issue of Justice Review for 2011 leads with a report of a national award for Emergency Alert, the emergency telephone warning system developed under the leadership of Victoria’s Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner.

The department’s five new ministers led by Attorney-General Robert Clark are briefly profiled following the change of government after the November 2010 election.

Other reports emphasise preparations for the bushfire season. These include the appointment of Craig Lapsley as the state’s first Fire Commissioner, a statewide roadshow spreading the bushfire safety message and smart phone apps developed by the Country Fire Authority.

The achievements of Corrections Victoria are highlighted through reports on the Community Work Partnership Awards, expansion at Ararat Prison and an international award recognising CV’s work with Koori offenders.
