Justice Review - Issue 2, 2010 This is archived content dated pre-December 2010. Material may not reflect current government policies and initiatives.

The second issue of Justice Review for 2010 highlights tough government action on knife violence. Proposed new laws will further extend police powers introduced last year and a hard-hitting education campaign is sending teens a message: Knives Scar Lives.

A profile of Racing Integrity Commissioner Sal Perna emphasises his commitment to creating public confidence in the racing industry while plastic running rails at tracks around the state will make racing safer for horses and jockeys.

Other reports cover the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission’s new powers in fighting discrimination and action by the department’s consumer affairs division to save young lives, protect rooming house tenants, provide timely advice to renovators and strip unsafe goods from retail shelves.
