CFA Opens Lines of Communication to Victorians

The CFA is expanding the way it warns Victorians during an emergency this summer by providing official information and warnings via Facebook.

Given almost 100,000 people currently follow CFA on Facebook, official warnings and information will help promote mass reach to a large number of Victorians instantly.

This complements the existing FireReady phone app, which deliver real-time everyday information, warnings and fire safety advice directly from CFA.

Victorians can also find information about warnings and emergencies by:

  • following CFA on Twitter
  • visiting the CFA and DSE websites
  • phoning the Victorian Bushfire Information Line on 1800 240 667
  • listening to ABC Local Radio or other designated emergency broadcasters.

Using social media to engage with Victorian citizens means during emergencies, CFA will be able to execute a variety of methods to push important information out quickly and to a wider audience.

Visit the CFA website for useful resources and tools, including the Online Bushfire Information Session, My Plan and Travellers' Checklist.

Follow CFA on Facebook and Twitter to receive the latest news and updates.

Download the free CFA FireReady smartphone apps now for the latest information and updates, from wherever you are.
