CFA Recruiting for 2013

Country Fire Authority (CFA) is launching its next advertising campaign to attract recruits as paid career firefighters for next year.

CFA is looking to recruit people who are community-minded, fit and want a challenging, rewarding and exciting career. CFA’s paid career firefighters support the volunteer firefighters and work closely with local communities.

In the next few weeks, the advertising campaign will promote a series of information sessions to be held in Geelong, Melbourne, Wangaratta, Swan Hill, and Traralgon, and at Fiskville between March and May. A women’s information session is also planned for Melbourne in late March.

These advertisements will begin running soon on radio, in newspapers, magazines and on websites with the objective of attracting applicants for recruit firefighter courses later this year.

CFA is seeking to broaden its recruitment and wants to attract into its ranks more women and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. These advertisements, which are placed in various media channels, will aim to attract men and women between the ages of 20 and 42.

Some radio ads will run on the high rating metro and regional music stations, while others have been scheduled to run on various community stations in other languages.

CFA plans to add an additional 342 firefighters to its ranks over the next four years. This responds to current gaps in service delivery and the identified forecast demand in key Melbourne metropolitan and growing regional areas.

The 100 new positions to fill four recruitment courses in 2013 will fill the needs of general recruitment, project requirements and vacancies from retirements.

Online application and further information is available on the CFA website.
