Justice Representatives featuring at Wimmera Machinery Field Days
Visitors to this week’s Wimmera Machinery Field Days will get advice about how to spot a scam, or request a replacement birth certificate, plus a range of other services on offer from the Department of Justice.
Running from 1 - 3 March in Longerenong near Horsham, the Wimmera Machinery Field Days will feature the Mobile Justice Service Centre with representatives from:
- Consumer Affairs Victoria
- Births, Deaths and Marriages
- Dispute Settlement Centre Victoria
- Sheriffs' Operations
- Community Correction Services
- Responsible Alcohol Victoria
- Victim Support
- Gambler’s Help.
The Mobile Justice Service Centre and Consumer Affairs Victoria will be located next to the Moore Exhibition Centre.
Department of Justice Regional Director, Grampians, Catherine Darbyshire said it was a great opportunity for people to find out about the range of the Department's services.
“This is one way we can help educate the community about what Justice services are available, while also giving people a chance to access a wealth of consumer, liquor licensing and other information. Visitors will also be able to get information about any outstanding fines.
“Consumer Affairs Victoria, which is the lead agency at the Field Days, is promoting how to avoid being scammed, and how to spot travelling con men.
“With scammers getting more sophisticated, it’s important consumers know how to spot a scam and how to protect themselves,” Ms Darbyshire said.
Department of Justice officers would also be able to give practical advice about other issues.
“If you have questions or need information about the services the Department of Justice offers, then this is your chance to come down and ask,” Ms Darbyshire said.
