Neighbourhood Watch Launches New Connections
Neighbourhood Watch is now more accessible to Victorian communities with the launch of a new, user-friendly website.
"It marks a new era for Neighbourhood Watch as it strengthens its communication and connection with Victorians through the launch of this new website," Minister for Crime Prevention, Andrew McIntosh said.
"Visitors to the website will be able to customise their experience through the site's interactive functions. The website is designed to be flexible and cater to specific needs. The website provides a new platform for Neighbourhood Watch, the public and the government, to be more responsive to community safety needs."
The revamped Neighbourhood Watch website provides new functions and access to:
- Virtual tours of workplaces, homes, building sites, cars and bikes with advice on implementing security measures, in partnership with iPATROL and Victoria Police
- A link to 'My Place', with the latest regional crime statistics from Victoria Police
- Online forms to become a Neighbourhood Watch volunteer and information on how others can be involved
- Interactive polls for issues concerning home security and personal safety
- Neighbourhood Watch publications
- A news feed for Victoria Police and local government activities and events
- Direct links to Facebook.
Local Neighbourhood Watch groups can contribute to the website’s content with ease, providing information on community events, police activities and safety issues.
"This site will allow all volunteers across the state to ensure the organisation continues its important work preventing crime. More importantly, it takes Neighbourhood Watch into every household in Victoria,” Mr McIntosh said.
Victoria has more than 1,000 Neighbourhood Watch areas that service close to 1 million households. An estimated 2.8 million Victorians – almost half of the state's population – live in Neighbourhood Watch areas.
