New Resources to Inform Councils and Community on Gaming Machine Applications

New online resources will make it easier for local councils, businesses and the wider community to be better informed about the electronic gaming machine application process.

The guides and factsheets have been developed by the Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre, as part of the Best Practice Guides to Electronic Gaming Machines Applications Processes project.

"Not only will these guides and factsheets help clarify the process about applying for a gaming machine approval, they should also enable more people to effectively participate in the process," Gaming Minister, Michael O'Brien Mr O'Brien said.

"These guides and factsheets are based on the Advocacy Centre's consultation with consumers and experts, about the need for more accessible and complete information about the approval and planning processes associated with gaming machines.”

The Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre undertook a thorough testing process to ensure the guides deliver content that is appropriate, accurate and easy to understand – simple, practical information that can help communities in their activities focusing on the application process relating to electronic gaming machines.

"This is in line with the Victorian Government's commitment to ensuring that the community has input into gambling issues," he said.

The three guides, 15 factsheets and case studies are available on Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre’s website and provide detailed information and flow charts on each of the planning and licensing application processes associated with gaming machines.
