New Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal Website
The Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal website has been relaunched, creating easier access to information about the tribunal and what victims can expect from the process.
The tribunal provides financial assistance to victims of violent crime committed in Victoria. The tribunal assists victims to recover from a crime by providing financial assistance for expenses incurred, or reasonably likely to be incurred, as a direct result of the crime.
Visitors to the website can subscribe to receive updates via RSS feed and access or download publications in other languages. The tribunal also has a translating and interpreting service for Victorians from non-English speaking backgrounds, giving assistance and referrals for legal information.
The redeveloped website was recently launched by the Attorney General, Mr Robert Clark with the Chief Magistrate and 60 guests at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Clark spoke of the importance of information being up-to-date and accurate. He indicated the new website would facilitate online sharing of information about the tribunal’s practices and procedures.
