Preparing Bushfire Information for Busy Parents

CFA has tailored an online bushfire information session especially for parents tonight at 8pm, with a trained FireReady presenter available online to answer questions to help Victorians get prepared.

Online meetings:

Tuesday 31 January at 8pm

Thursday 16 February at 1pm

Tonight’s online session will be ideal for busy parents who are unable to attend community meetings, part of an active online community for new and expecting parents.

The online meeting will cover issues such as school closures on Code Red days, planning for school holidays, educating children about fire, as well as general bushfire preparedness.

Online bushfire information sessions are run in a chat room format and cover topics such as the weather outlook for the coming fire season, how to access bushfire information and warnings, and being well prepared for high fire risk days.

These sessions make it easier for parents to engage with CFA and get involved by asking questions and sharing advice with other parents. All meetings will be available online to watch as videos.

Parents need to consider things such as:

  • how school holidays might affect their fire plan
  • the fact that children should not be left home alone on high risk days
  • things to pack into a relocation kit for the kids such as car seats, medications and favourite toys.

While providing information specific to parents, there will also be links to online colouring sheets and fun activities to occupy kids while parents are getting help with their fire plan.
