Carolyn Gale, Executive Director, Community Operations and Strategy

Carolyn is the Executive Director of Community Operations and Strategy at the Department of Justice. She is responsible for a diverse and complex portfolio which includes a mix of operational functions and program delivery, as well as strategic policy development. 

The portfolio includes:

• Koori Justice
• Victim Support
• Responsible Alcohol Victoria
• Infringement Management and Enforcement Services
• Office of Correctional Services Review
• Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Qualifications

She holds a Masters of Business Administration and Certificate of Public Management from Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne, a Graduate Diploma in Urban Research and Policy, and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in political science.

Work history

Previously, Carolyn was the Director of Portfolio Services in the Portfolio Services and Strategic Projects division at the Department of Human Services (DHS), where she was responsible for the provision of high-level corporate services to support the Department’s Ministers, independent Commissioners, the Secretary, divisions and regions.

She has previously worked as a Regional Director in the DHS Southern Region, the Manager of Community Care in the DHS Southern Region, as well as holding a number of other management positions within DHS since 1998.
