Julia Griffith, Executive Director, Corrections, Health and Crime Prevention
Julia Griffith, as Executive Director, Corrections, Health and Crime Prevention, is responsible for providing high-level support to the Minister for Corrections, the Minister for Crime Prevention and the Secretary in the areas of corrections policy and operations, health-related issues across the criminal justice system, and crime prevention policy and coordination.
The Corrections, Health and Crime Prevention division comprises three major business areas: Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Community Crime Prevention. The Adult Parole Board is a statutory entity auspiced by the portfolio.

Work history
Ms Griffith has extensive experience in the Victorian Public Service in senior management, particularly in the areas of employment, human services and justice.
Ms Griffith has previously been involved in managing Victoria’s juvenile justice system, monitoring the State’s correctional services and redeveloping its child protection placement and support services. Within the Department of Justice, Ms Griffith has also had responsibility for the establishment of the Working With Children Check unit, for road safety services, for the implementation of the government’s Fairer and Firmer Fines strategy, and for governmental responses to victims of crime.
Before being appointed to her current role in November 2011, Ms Griffith was Executive Director, Regional and Executive Services for the Department. In this capacity, she was responsible for ensuring that corporate functions across all areas of the Department operated efficiently to enable the delivery of a high-performing justice system, and to help ensure that the corporate objectives and statutory obligations of the Department were met. This included successful implementation of the Department’s new regional management structure and leading improvements in the occupational health and safety performance of the Department.
During her career, Ms Griffith has also been responsible for implementing the Victorian Government’s employment programs focusing on assisting the most disadvantaged job seekers in our community. She has been a key driver in the formulation of employment policies and the development of initiatives to address skills shortages.
Her career achievements have been built on a strong background in youth work, research, training and community development, as well as roles in the private sector.
