What We Don't Do

There are various functions relating to the justice system which are managed by other departments or agencies.

These include:

Juvenile Justice

The Department of Human Services is responsible for the administration of programs to ensure the care, custody and supervision of young offenders.

Leo Cussens Institute

The institute aims to provide ‘continuing legal education for legal practitioners in Victoria and to perform certain functions in connection with legal education’. It is administered by its own board and is not an agency of the Victorian Government.

Family Court

The Family Court of Australia resolves or determines family disputes. The Family Court is within the jurisdiction of the Australian Federal Government.

Australian Administrative Appeals Tribunal

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal provides independent review of a wide range of administrative decisions made by the Australian government and some non-government bodies. It is an Australian Federal Government agency.

Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary documents

The Department of Premier and Cabinet provide access to all parliamentary documents, Victorian statutes, Victorian statutory acts and Parliamentary rules on behalf of the Victorian Government.
