North Western Metropolitan Region
The North Western Metropolitan region is the largest of the Justice regions and responsible for the delivery of Justice services to over 1.5 million people across 14 Local Government Areas. These include: Banyule, Brimbank, Darebin, Hobson’s Bay, Hume, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Moonee Valley, Moreland, Nillumbik, Whittlesea, Wyndham and Yarra.
The region has 13 work locations with Regional Offices at both Carlton and Broadmeadows, the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood, Justice Service Centres at, Sunshine and Werribee, and Justice Offices at Reservoir, Melton, Greensborough and Heidelberg.
The region is home to three state operated maximum security prisons, the 317 bed Dame Phyllis Frost Centre for women, the 286 bed Melbourne Assessment Prison and the 663 bed Metropolitan Remand Centre.
Also located in the region are the 25 bed minimum security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre and the privately operated 804 bed maximum security Port Phillip Prison.
