Affidavits

An affidavit is a written statement that is confirmed by the oath or affirmation of the party making it before a person authorised to receive affidavits. Affidavits are used in court proceedings and for other purposes authorised by law.

This section provides information about affidavits and:

  • those who are authorised to witness affidavits
  • hearing impaired people
  • the vision impaired or people with reading and writing difficulties
  • people under the age of 14
  • people of a culturally and linguistically diverse background
  • people with a physical disability
  • partnerships and incorporated bodies
  • an example of the affidavit forms to be used in Victoria (available in the menu on the right).
