The Courts Process

Court processes vary depending on the type of court involved and the type of matter. If you are attending court as a party to a case, you should seek legal advice. The individual court or tribunal website or registry staff may also provide further information about the court process applicable to your matter.

Broadly speaking, most cases can be grouped into two categories - criminal and civil. The information in this section provides an overview of the court processes in Victoria for these two categories.
