Police Mediation
The Chief Commissioner’s delegate may offer you an opportunity to enter discussions or mediation.
You can choose to enter into this process as well as lodge or continue with an appeal. If you reach agreement by police mediation, you are still entitled, regardless of the outcome of mediation or hearing before the Chief Commissioner, to exercise your full right to make an appeal to the Firearms Appeals Committee.
You should consider beforehand what you want to achieve out of any discussions, and enter with as much information as you can.
Regardless of whether you choose to enter into police mediation, you are reminded that an appeal to the Firearms Appeals Committee must be submitted within 28 days of the notice from Victoria Police either cancelling, refusing or imposing conditions on your firearms licence.
