Validation of the Victorian Gambling Screen

This document, released in 2004, reports on the population-based survey Validation of the Victorian Gambling Screen originally developed in 2001.

Previously, the report Measuring Problem Gambling - Evaluation of the Victorian Gambling (2003) had evaluated the Victorian Gambling Screen for its reliability compared with the South Oaks Gambling Screen (SOGS) and the Canadian Problem Gambling Index (CPGI).  That report recommended a research design for a large-scale survey.

Validation of the Victorian Gambling Screen (2004) is based in testing and cross-validation in comparison with SOGS and the CPGI using a total population sample of 8,479 Victorians.  The same population sample was used as the basis for the 2003 Victorian Longitudinal Community Attitudes (2004) survey.
