Responsible Gambling
Responsible gambling is about minimising harm caused by problem gambling while accommodating those who gamble without harming themselves or others. A number of measures and initiatives have been introduced to foster responsible gambling by:
- engaging the community and key stakeholders in decision making about gambling
- encouraging gamblers to play safely without harming themselves or others
- promoting good customer service practices by gambling providers.
Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre
The Responsible Gambling Advocacy Centre (RGAC) is funded by the Victorian Government to:
- build the capacity of the community to make informed choices about gambling
- create links across the sector and offer accurate, clear information and gambling resources
- provide stakeholders with opportunities to come together and discuss issues.

Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council
The Responsible Gambling Ministerial Advisory Council advises on:
- social concerns and economic issues related to problem gambling
- responsible gambling policies, initiatives and research
- frameworks for responsible gambling programs.
Responsible gambling measures
Victorian gambling legislation and regulations contain a range of measures that foster responsible gambling. They relate to:
- environmental features of gaming areas
- design and distribution of gaming machines
- gambling providers’ customer service practices
- community input into gaming regulation decisions.
