Codes of Conduct and Self-Exclusion Programs

In 2009, it became a requirement for most industry participants to have a Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct, where the Ministerial Direction set out a range of responsible gambling principles for industry to adhere to. In addition, industry participants are required to have a self-exclusion program.

The following industry participants are required by law to have an approved Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct and self-exclusion program:

  • gaming venue operators
  • holders of wagering licences
  • the wagering operator
  • holders of a public lottery licence
  • commercial raffle organisers
  • bingo centre operators
  • the casino operator
  • holders of an interactive gaming licence
  • Club Keno participants.

Ministerial Directions detailing the standards and requirements of Responsible Gambling Codes of Conduct and self-exclusion programs can be found below.

Gambling providers must have their Codes of Conduct and self-exclusion programs approved by the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation.
