Compulsory Training for Gaming Venue Staff
The Gambling Regulation Act 2003 requires that all gaming venue staff working in gaming machine areas complete a Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) training course within six months of commencing their employment and a refresher course within three years.
The aim of training is to ensure that staff:
- can identify behaviours that may be associated with problem gambling and can be confident to respond appropriately
- understand and comply with their registered responsibilities
- foster a culture of responsible service in which consumers are informed, able to gamble responsibly and in which those who seek help can access support early.
The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (the Commission) approves RSG courses. Individuals interested in completing RSG training should consult the Commission's website for a list of currently approved training providers.
