Coronial Council of Victoria second reference: Asbestos related deaths and the coronial jurisdiction

In June 2011 the Attorney-General, the Hon Robert Clark MP, provided the following reference to the Coronial Council pursuant to section 110 of the Coroners Act 2008 (Vic):

The Coronial Council is requested to provide advice as to whether asbestos related deaths should be the subject of coronial investigations. The Council is invited to make additional comments, if deemed appropriate, in relation to this issue.

The council provided its report to the Attorney-General on 31 January 2012.
