Getting Started: A Guide to Getting Out - Vietnamese Translations

In early 2002, Corrections Victoria funded the Victorian Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (VACRO) to produce a resource for prisoners exiting prison; Getting Out book. This book has become a central resource within Corrections Victoria’s transition service delivery, being distributed and discussed during the Transitional Assistance Program (TAP).

The book provides pertinent information about support services to prisoners both preparing for and experiencing transition from custody to the community. It also includes information about services such as housing and accommodation, getting around, dealing with community and government agencies and re-uniting with family members, as well as a pre-release planner and a day of release planner for prisoners.

In 2010 work commenced on updating the Getting Out book. Several changes have been made to the resource, including a name change to Getting Started and a format change. These booklets have been translated into Vietnamese.
