Investigation into Hearing Impairment Among Indigenous Prisoners in the Victorian Correctional System

An investigation into hearing impairment among Indigenous prisoners in the Victorian correctional system was commissioned by Corrections Victoria. The project report by Susan Quinn and Gary Rance from the School of Audiology at the University of Melbourne was completed in August 2006.

The study concluded that the population of Victorian Indigenous prisoners have significantly more hearing problems than would be expected in the general Australian adult population. These findings are relevant to all agencies and services that have contact with Indigenous people, including police, courts, health and education.
