Gambling Licensing Program

 

 

The Gambling Licensing Program (GLP) was established in July 2015 within the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR) in the Department of Justice and Regulation (DJR) following the appointment of the Director, GLP, with the primary purpose of overseeing the delivery of all the current and upcoming gambling licensing projects. The purpose of bringing the licensing projects under the umbrella of a program is to leverage the significant similarities between the projects in order to achieve efficiencies and facilitate successful delivery, including through:

  • shared resources
  • common governance structure
  • common project management framework
  • consistent processes.

Gambling licences

OLGR within the Department of Justice and Regulation is the primary government point of reference for industry, community and government on liquor, gambling and racing matters. OLGR is responsible for the provision of strategic policy advice and support to the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation and the Minister for Racing.

OLGR’s responsibility for the State’s gambling portfolio encompasses conducting the following licensing processes under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 on behalf of the Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation:

  • Public lotteries
  • Gaming machine entitlements
  • Keno
  • Wagering and betting
  • Monitoring
  • Pre-commitment (YourPlay).

 

Victoria’s various current gambling licences progressively expire between June 2018 and August 2027:
