Research Strategy Mission Statement

The Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner (OESC) is committed to supporting the development of evidence based policy and responding to the challenges faced by the emergency management sector. OESC's research and project work emphasises the value of research which is part of inter-agency partnerships, reflects common goals and encourages knowledge development.

Research Strategy Goals

Current research subjects include:

  • Working with the emergency management sector to identify adaptation pathways. Issues that will be the focus of research include infrastructure, volunteers, planning and modelling, community engagement and resilience and service delivery
  • Property defence in a bushfire
  • Trial and evaluation of community warning sirens
  • Residential fire fatalities and injuries
  • Building a research database with our stakeholders and partners including; CFA, VICSES, DSE, MFB, LSV and Red Cross.
