Disputes

Disputes can arise in many areas of life, whether it's a disagreement with a neighbour over tree roots or fences; disputes between members of a club; workplace disagreements; or noise pollution from animals, machinery or cars.

The Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria (DSCV) can help you to resolve a wide range of these issues, without having to resort to taking legal action. They offer practical strategies, mediation services, education programs and lots more, and their service is free.

Our Reaching Agreement website features how-to videos with tips on simple and effective ways to resolve neighbourhood disputes. The videos are presented in English, Australian sign language and seven other community languages. Guides to dispute resolution services in Victoria are also available in English and ten community languages from the website. You can visit the website via the link provided below.

If you have a consumer dispute, you may wish to consult the Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) website, or find contact details for the many Industry-Based Ombudsman Schemes that exist to help you with problems concerning particular industries.
