Aboriginal Justice

The Department of Justice delivers a number of Koori-related justice initiatives throughout Victoria, in partnership with the Koori community.

Our partnerships prove critical to identifying areas affecting Koori over-representation at all stages of the criminal justice system and enabling us to deliver improved justice outcomes for the Koori community in Victoria.

The department provides support to advance the agenda on Aboriginal issues affecting justice, starting with the Victorian Indigenous Affairs Framework (VIAF), through to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Indigenous Reform Agenda.

The Department is also the lead agency responsible for delivering Koori justice initiatives aligned with the objectives of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA), in partnership with its statutory agencies and the Koori community.
