Koori Justice - April 2008

The April 2008 issue of Koori Justice features stories on the unveiling of Melbourne's first monument to Aboriginal leaders, Pastor Sir Doug and Lady Gladys Nicholls, the historic National Apology to the Stolen Generations, the Koori Early School Leavers Program in Geelong and the Koori Tertiary Scholarships Program of the Department of Justice.

There is an opinion piece by Dr Mark Harris, Senior Lecturer in Legal Studies at LaTrobe University on the Koori Courts as a model for success, and profile Adrian Sculthorpe, in his previous role as the Assistant Manager in the Indigenous Policy and Services Unit of Corrections Victoria.

Other highlights include the raising of Aboriginal flags outside police stations throughout the Grampians region, the work of Anthony Hume as Victoria's first Indigenous Water Safety Officer and the launch of the Local Justice Worker Program. We also look at the recently released Human Rights Charter for Victoria and a new family violence healing service in Melbourne's north western suburbs.
