Partnership Structure of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement
The Koori community is central to the development and implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA).
A core principle of the AJA is maximising participation of the Koori community in the design, development, delivery and implementation of all justice policies and programs that impact on Koories.
The AJA is delivered via a multi-layered structure of partnerships between the Victorian Government and the Koori community and includes the:
- Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF)
- Victorian Koori Caucus
- Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (RAJAC) network
- Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committee (LAJAC) network.
The Koori Justice Unit is responsible for delivering a number Koori programs on behalf of the Department of Justice, as well as on behalf of the AJF, through the AJA. The unit works closely with the Koori Caucus, RAJAC and LAJAC networks, and AJA-related business units and teams across Victorian Government to coordinate the delivery, and monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the AJA and its related programs.
