Place-based Partnership Projects
The Department of Justice is committed to two major projects incorporating multiple initiatives and partnerships between local, state and federal government and the Koori community.
These partnership projects work to address a combination of concerns prioritised in consultation with the local community, and improve outcomes.
An Inter-departmental Committee (IDC) led by the Secretary, Department of Justice has been established for each project to oversee its progress.
Although the specific goals and objectives of each partnership project may differ, each:
- focuses on a particular location within Victoria and is based on working at a local level
- involves a collaboration between all levels of government and the local Koori community
- is governed by clear principles and protocols
- is coordinated by an IDC represented by government, as well as key individual and organisational community representatives
- has a project team based on location.
Current partnership projects include the Lake Tyers Community Renewal Project (Gippsland region) and the Mildura Community Partnership Project (Loddon Mallee region).
