Phasing in the Check

The Working with Children (WWC) Check commenced in April 2006. At the time of its commencement, it was agreed that the WWC Check be phased in over a period of five years, from 2006 – 2011. This allowed time for people engaged in the different types of child-related work to apply for a WWC Check by the relevant date. As at 1 July 2011, the phasing in of the different types of child-related work is complete and the WWC Check is fully implemented.

All people engaged in child-related work are now required to apply for a WWC Check prior to beginning duties.

To view the list of the different types of child-related work refer to the List of Occupational Fields.
