Major Initiatives

The Department of Justice is working on a range of projects and initiatives which aim to improve the quality, delivery and efficiency of our key services. In particular, the department is focusing on the following major initiatives:

  • Neighbourhood Justice Centre
  • The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (NJC) is a three year pilot project of the Victorian Department of Justice and the first of its kind in Australia. Located within the diverse inner urban Yarra municipality, the NJC aims to enhance community involvement in the justice system.

  • Supreme Court of Victoria: Supreme Court Redevelopment
  • Details about the redevelopment stages, restricted access areas and photographs of the refurbished courts are available on the Supreme Court website.

  • Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement
  • The Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA) is a partnership between the Victorian Government and the Koori community to achieve improved Indigenous justice outcomes.
