Liquor Licence Applications Information Now Online

The Department of Justice is putting liquor licence notices online making it easier for Victorians to find out about licence applications in their area.

Consumer Affairs Minister Tony Robinson said the new Liquor Licensing Applications Noticeboard will make it easier for local residents to be part of the licensing process.

The noticeboard provides the address of proposed venue, type of application, local government area and the date the application was received.

Information on licence applications will be updated weekly.

Mr Robinson said residents have a big say in the decision to grant a liquor licence application.

“Residents’ input is needed to achieve the right balance between Victoria’s vibrant nightlife and public safety.  Concerns about the potential impact of a licensed venue on the amenity of the local community can be raised so they can be considered by the Director of Liquor Licensing when determining applications,” he said.

“The Director can address residents’ concerns by refusing to grant an application outright or by limiting operating hours and patron numbers or requiring changes to a venue’s layout.”
