New Equipment for Emergency Service Volunteer Groups

Ninety Victorian emergency services volunteer groups are set to share in more than $3 million of State Government funding.

The Community Safety Emergency Support Program funds will allow for the purchase of additional, much-needed equipment.

Minister for Emergency Services Bob Cameron said the funds would benefit volunteers from the Country Fire Authority, State Emergency Services, Life Saving Victoria and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard.

“This funding will allow local groups to buy extra equipment ranging from light, medium and heavy tankers, lighting trailers, search and rescue equipment, as well as, updating existing equipment and improving facilities,” Mr Cameron said.

Under this year’s program;

  • CFA receive $2.1 million including $1.1 million for ultra-light tankers
  • VICSES received almost $813,000 for the purchase of replacement trucks and vehicles, Lighting Trailers and to upgrade facilities
  • LSV received $286,000 in grants for the purchase of rescue equipment including inflatable rescue boats and defibrillators
  • AVCG received $100,000 in grants for the purchase of safety and rescue equipment and to upgrade facilities.
