Support Victoria’s Vital, Valued Volunteers
The State Government’s new “Vital, Valued, Victorians” campaign highlights the role of emergency services volunteers in our community.
The campaign encourages all Victorians to show their appreciation by posting a message of support on the new volunteer website.
Since the launch of the site, more than 350 people have contributed to the message wall.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Bob Cameron said volunteers are vital not only in times of crisis, but all year round in preparing, educating and protecting the community.
“This campaign highlights the extraordinary skills, dedication and community-mindedness of our volunteers,” Mr Cameron said.
“The Black Saturday bushfires, and indeed the entire fire season asked a lot of volunteers and their families, and this is an opportunity to show our support as we approach what is likely to be another demanding fire season.”
The website acknowledges real-life volunteers from the:
- Country Fire Authority (CFA)
- State Emergency Services (VICSES)
- Life Saving Victoria (LSV)
- Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
- Australian Volunteer Coast Guard (AVCG).
To post a message visit the website or send an SMS with “Vols” and your message to 0488 50 50 50.
