Your Move Campaign Launch Video Transcript
Your Move Transcript
Michael Roberts, AFL Former Player:
Your Move – Championship Moves is an information campaign backed by the Victoria Government, really targeting young males that find themselves in difficult situations – alcohol-fuelled incidents especially in the inner city.
I've got Danny Frawley, the AFL Chief Executive Officer of the Coaches Association with me. Danny this is a massive campaign and it will be broadcast on television, and also on the website.
Danny Frawley, CEO AFL Coaches Association:
It certainly is Robbo – championshipmoves.com.au. And some of the moves are the Lasso, the Receptionist and the Muzzle. They're a little bit light hearted, but as you said it targets the 18 to 25 year-olds. We just basically want to make the streets a safer place.
Bob Cameron, Minister Police and Emergency Services:
We believe that this initiative is important to encourage people to take responsibility for preventing alcohol related violence.
Kieran Walshe, Deputy Commissioner Victoria Police:
When young people go out they have choices to make. They can make the choice about whether they buy that extra drink. Whether they confront somebody. Whether they throw the first punch. Some of these actions that they undertake can have catastrophic results.
Mick Malthouse, Collingwood Magpies Coach:
It’s all about us as coaches and us as individuals and us as members of the community trying to get a safer environment for everyone.
Danny Frawley:
The Championship Moves is all about looking after your mate, Robbo. And as sport, I think we're the leaders in it, and what we need to do in the community is when someone has just had a little bit too much to drink, someone in the group just lasso him in and bring him back into the fold – put the muzzle over, and just tell him to be a little bit quiet, and basically looking after your mates.
[CUT TO THE MUZZLE]
Two young men are at a bar. One of the men is harassing the other saying “why do you look so stupid”. His mate notices that he is bothering someone, and comes over and puts the "muzzle" on him, by putting his hand over his mate’s mouth.
"You'll have to excuse my friend, he doesn't know when to shut up" he says to the other man.
Voice over: It takes a real champion to keep their mates out of trouble – have you got the moves?
