Our Goals
The department aims to deliver the following outcomes for Victoria:

Our policy framework
Growing Victoria Together (GVT) outlines the government's broad vision for Victoria for the next ten years. This policy framework is supported by other whole of government strategies such as A Fairer And Safer Victoria, the department's Strategic Priorities - a statement of our strategic focus and direction, and key justice policy statements such as the Justice Statement 2004-14.
Our contribution
The Justice portfolio contributes to the GVT outcomes of:
- building friendly, confident and safe communities
- a fairer society that reduces disadvantage and respects diversity
- more quality jobs and a thriving innovative industries across Victoria
- greater public participation and more accountable government.
Victorian justice systems
Our portfolio brings together government activities concerned with the reform, administration and enforcement of the law in Victoria. It incorporates five systems, which together make up the Victorian justice systems:
- Criminal justice system
- Regulation and enforcement system
- Civil justice system
- Emergency services system
- Corporate and strategic support system
