Programs and Strategy, Courts and Tribunals Unit

The Programs and Strategy, Courts and Tribunals Unit works towards reducing the number of marginalised and disadvantaged people getting caught up in the court system and follows the strategies outlined in the Attorney-General’s Justice Statement. The business unit also addresses the underlying causes of offending, and aims to promote an accessible, equitable and responsive justice system.

Current projects and programs include:

• Koori Court
• Drug Court
• Family Violence Court Division
• Court Integrated Services Program
• other programs aimed at diversion, early intervention and prevention.

Some specific tasks the business unit undertakes are:

• investigating opportunities for court innovation
• field testing new programs
• implementing policies and procedures
• collaborating with courts and other agencies on best practice.
