Working with Children Check Unit

The Working with Children (WWC) Check Unit assists to protect children from sexual or physical harm by administering the Working with Children Act 2005 as part of a whole of government and community approach to safeguarding children in Victoria.

The unit undertakes to:

  • determine whether individuals are not suitable to work or volunteer in "child-related work" by assessing and monitoring, on an ongoing basis, their relevant criminal history and professional disciplinary findings in a fair and consistent manner and with respect for the individual’s privacy
  • provide education and information about rights and responsibilities under the Act and work in partnership with the community, peak bodies, and relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
