Louise Glanville, Executive Director, Legal and Equity

Ms Louise Glanville is the Executive Director of Legal and Equity. She leads and coordinates the business group responsible for supporting the Attorney-General as first law officer, developing and implementing the Attorney-General's policy and law reform agenda and a number of statutory entities that report to the Attorney General.

Work History and Career Achievements

Over her career, Louise has made a significant contribution in the public sector, particularly in the fields of public and social policy, and law reform. She is a lawyer who has held positions in local and state government, academia, the private sector and ministerial offices.

Recently, as Director of the Neighbourhood Justice Centre Project, Louise led a team charged with the task of establishing the innovative NJC, the first community justice centre in Australia. This major achievement improves access to justice for the community and ensures that Victoria is now part of a growing international Justice movement promoting community justice initiatives to reduce re-offending and crime rates. It also encourages greater community involvement in the administration of justice.

Previously, Louise has worked as a legal officer in the Office of the Public Advocate, and as a senior lecturer in urban and social policy at Victoria University.

Other key achievements include:

  • Preparation of the State Plan for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer (Breast Screen)
  • Oversight of the development of the Attorney-General's Justice Statements 1 and 2.
