Cultural Diversity Plan 2009-2011

The Cultural Diversity Plan 2009-2011 outlines 70 strategies aimed at improving access to Justice services for Victoria's culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. It was developed by the Diversity Issues Unit in the Department of Justice, and focuses on improving the department's response to the evolving needs of Victoria’s CALD communities. Key strategies within the plan include:

  • increased community engagement and capacity building through initiatives such as the Justice for Refugee Program
  • enhanced language services
  • improved training for departmental staff in cultural competence and working with interpreters
  • continued focus on protecting and empowering CALD consumers
  • enhanced recruiting practices in support of CALD employment.
