Liquor Control Advisory Council Packaged Liquor Report

The Liquor Control Advisory Council (LCAC) was established to advise the Minister for Consumer Affairs on issues surrounding alcohol abuse.

LCAC was asked to examine the sale of packaged liquor. Packaged liquor refers to the sale of alcohol in sealed containers from outlets such as bottle shops and supermarkets.

LCAC has completed its review and presented recommendations on issues including:

  • the criteria applied for granting packaged liquor licences
  • training of responsible alcohol serving practices
  • access by minors to packaged liquor
  • controls on the promotion and advertising of packaged liquor.
