Births, Deaths and Marriages
Established in 1853, the role of the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages is to:
- record in perpetuity all births, adoptions, marriages, relationships and deaths occurring in the state of Victoria
- register changes of name for people who were born or reside in Victoria
- provide certificates of the above events to individuals.
The Registry also:
- provides family history resources and products through VicHeritage
- offers a civil marriage service through the Victorian Marriage Registry
- collects and disseminates statistical information to authorised agencies.
