Business Licensing

Certain businesses, traders and individuals operating in Victoria are legally required to obtain a licence. Depending on the business or licence type, applications can be made through either the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) website or the Consumer Affairs Victoria website.

Consumer Affairs Victoria Licensing Information

Consumer Affairs Victoria provides information about licensing, making a licensing complaint and the following registrations:

  • Conveyancers
    Information about individual and company licensing as a Conveyancer and the ongoing requirements.
  • Credit providers
    Information about registering as a Credit Provider, the ongoing responsibilities, and relevant forms.
  • Estate Agents
    Information about individual and company licensing as an Estate Agent and the ongoing requirements.
  • Finance or Mortgage Brokers
    Information about becoming a Finance Broker, responsibilities, and information on mortgage minimisation and debt consolidation.
  • Introduction Agents
    Information about becoming an Introduction Agent, using an Introduction Agency, and ongoing responsibilities.
  • Motor Car Traders
    Information about becoming a Motor Car Trader, including the applications process, licence cancellation and employee ineligibility and conditions.
  • Owners Corporation Managers
    Information about registering as a Owners Corporation Manager, the ongoing responsibilities, and relevant forms
  • Prostitution Service Providers
    Information about becoming an approved brothel manager, becoming a Prostitution Service Provider, possible exemptions, ongoing responsibilities, and relevant forms.
  • Second-Hand Dealers and Pawnbrokers
