Valuing Volunteers Program

The vision of the Valuing Volunteers Program (VVP) is to value, attract, develop and retain a workforce of confident, self-reliant emergency service volunteers for the ongoing protection and safety of communities throughout Victoria.

Victoria’s emergency services agencies depend on volunteers to enable them to deliver effective and sustained services across the community. Recognising the valuable contribution that volunteers make and the need to build and maintain this skilled volunteer workforce is at the heart of VVP.

The VVP is a Victorian Government initiative funded through the Community Support Fund. The Government is actively recognising volunteers and the selfless contributions they make to protect and strengthen our local communities, through its commitment of $3 million over four years (2007/08-2010/11).

The program is designed to provide the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Life Saving Victoria (LSV), Australian Volunteer Coast Guard (AVCG) and Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) with additional resources and support for their volunteer initiatives.

The VVP has four key aims: Recognition, Recruitment, Retention and Support.

NB: Queries regarding VVP grants for CFA, VICSES, LSV and AVCG should be directed to the agency's Headquarters.
