A Good Night for All Options for improving safety and amenity in inner city entertainment precincts

This discussion paper outlines the issues and the options available to address issues in Melbourne's inner city entertainment precincts. This feedback assisted the Inner City Entertainment Precincts (ICEP) Taskforce to identify the most appropriate ways forward.

The paper draws on available quantitative and qualitative data to:

  • provide an overview of the economic and social context within which entertainment precincts in the inner city exist
  • present the public safety, security and amenity issues of concern
  • explore the initiatives currently in place to address each of the issues identified, the approaches taken in different jurisdictions, and measures proposed by key stakeholders
  • identify options for consideration in relation to the development of additional responses.
