Consumer scams have unfortunately become an unavoidable part of our lives, so it is important that consumers are aware of how to deal with many of the scams operating today. The Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) website provides an up-to-date list of scams currently operating in Victoria, some tips on how to avoid being conned, and information on what you can do if you get caught-out by a con artist.

The Director of Consumer Affairs Victoria has the power to issue public warnings about any business or person suspected of operating an unfair business. The Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) website provides information about:
- faulty goods or services and those who provide them
- details of unfair business practices and those involved
- other information in regards to alerts deemed important.
