Actuary Study and Discussion Paper of Appeal Costs
The Department of Justice commissioned Taylor Fry Consulting Actuaries to conduct an actuarial study of the costs met by the Appeal Costs Board under the Appeal Costs Act 1998. The objectives of the study are to analyse historical data on costs met by the board, to project likely future costs and to quantify the effects of various options that are intended to mitigate those costs.
The results of the actuarial study have been incorporated into a discussion paper to stakeholders released on 19 April 2007.
Discussion paper
The purpose of this discussion paper is to outline the financial performance of Victoria’s Appeal Costs scheme and to present options that would bring it into line with the schemes in other states.
