The Court System

The courts interpret the laws. They are also given the job of deciding who is right and who is wrong when there is a dispute, and sentencing people who have broken the laws.

This section provides information about:

• the courts process, including the Magistrates' Court, the County Court and the Supreme Court
• the role Court Services plays in the Victorian court system
• technology in courts, including the implementation of projects from the Criminal Justice Enhancement Program and Integrated Courts Management System
• judicial education through the Judicial College of Victoria to assist the professional development and continuing education of Victorian Judicial Officers.
